VOLKSWAGEN GROUP UK has announced the appointment of Paul Willcox as managing director.
Willcox, 49, will replace Simon Thomas who leaves the UK on September 1 to take up a global position.
Willcox will join the business on September 16 from Nissan, where he held the role of senior vice president, sales and marketing for Europe since June 2011.
He began his career in the motor industry with Peugeot UK, and later joined Nissan Motor GB in 1992. He has held a variety of management positions in sales and marketing including, manager corporate planning, general manager marketing strategy and pricing, and marketing director Nissan GB.
In 2005, he was appointed vice president marketing for Nissan Europe before returning to Nissan GB as managing director in 2008.
Willcox will be based at Volkswagen Group UK’s headquarters in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, where he will be responsible for the group’s five UK brands, Volkswagen Passenger Cars and Commercial Vehicles, Audi, Seat and Skoda.
Simon Thomas will take up a global role as global head of marketing for the Volkswagen Group and the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand at the company’s headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany.
