Rio now three-door

Time 2:36 pm, January 27, 2012

KOREAN firm Kia will now offer a three-door version of its new Rio for the first time in the model’s history.

The five-door version went on sale in September, but the new three-door boasts a ‘coupe-like side-profile’ for £600 less.

The trim levels are carried over from the five-door – namely ‘1’, ‘1 Air’, ‘2’ and ‘3’ – and so to is the engine line-up comprising of  two petrols and two diesel units.

That means the three-door is available with the firm’s much vaunted 1.1 CRDi diesel units that delivers 74bhp  and 170Nm of torque, emits 99 g/km of CO2 and returns 74.3mpg.

Kia’s Care-3 package will also be made available on the three-door Rio. Costing £259 including VAT, it covers the first three services or the Care-3 Plus package is just £499 including VAT which covers the first five services.

Prices begin at £9,995 for the three-door 1.25-litre ‘1’ model and rise to £14,295 for the 1.4-litre EcoDynamics diesel ‘3’ version.
