ford-sales-hit-by-rental-cappingTHE SMMT have published the full regional new car registrations figures for December in the UK.

Excluding the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands, 124,415 cars were registered in December in the UK; 2,019,792 cars in total in 2010.

In December England lead the way with 107,29 cars registered, followed by Scotland with 9,943, Wales with 4,180, and Northern Ireland registering 1,663 cars. Compared to December 2009, December 2010 represented a change of -17.88 per cent; Wales registered the worse fall of -25.40 per cent.

The December and end of year best-sellers also represented little surprise. Vauxhall’s Astra, Corsa and Insignia continually traded the top spot with the Ford Fiesta and Focus, with both marques occupying a fair share of the No.1 position throughout December and 2010.
