CAR dealers that go the extra mile for Motability customers have been honoured by the charity.

Perrys Motor Sales was named National Dealer Group of the Year in the new annual Motability Dealer Awards programme, with Lookers plc and Vertu Motors plc being commended.

Gordons Ford, which has four sites in Lancashire, won the gong for Regional Dealer Group of the Year, with John Grose, based in East Anglia, and Busseys in Norwich and Norfolk runners-up.

Meanwhile, Kylie Warwick from Marshall Ford in Cambridge was named Motability Specialist of the Year, with Nicola Marriott from Westover Nissan in Bournemouth commended.

The award for Website of the Year, based on ease of navigation and availability of up-to-date, accurate information, went to Isaac Agnew in Northern Ireland, with Allen Ford Dealer Group in England highly commended.

The Motability Dealer Awards programme is designed to reward best practice and ensure all Motability customers receive exemplary customer service across the dealer network. Dealers are judged on how they deliver the scheme to customers and are assessed through customer feedback, reviews of their Motability performance and levels of engagement.

Peter Wilson, General Manager, Dealer Relations at Motability Operations, said: “These awards are a great way for us to recognise our dealer partners who go above and beyond when representing the Motability scheme.

“We continually receive great customer feedback and aim to build upon this. Many congratulations to our partners who work as the ‘face’ of Motability and deliver an outstanding customer experience.”

Motability is the UK’s leading car scheme for disabled people. It provides affordable, convenient, worry-free motoring to more than 630,000 disabled customers and their families. Scooters and powered wheelchairs can also be leased through Motability.

Anyone who receives the Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance, the Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment, War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement or Armed Forces Independence Payment can exchange their weekly payment to lease a new car through the Motability scheme.

Insurance, servicing, RAC breakdown assistance and replacement tyres are included in the cost of the lease.

For more information about the Motability scheme, dealers should visit or call 0870 111 8885.
