Used car firm claims record yearUSED car remarketing specialist GRS has bucked the trend of a falling used car market – sales are up a third.

Direct sales to car dealers are the company’s core business. It reveals independent and franchised dealers focusing on used cars is the reason for its success.

GRS remarkets nationwide, from a pool of over 30 manufacturers. It has over 6500 dealers on its database.

Theo Kortland, business development director from GRS, said: ‘An increased demand for quality used cars from dealers has meant they have turned to trusted sources of stock.

‘Our ability to deliver vehicles across a wide range of marques, from phone order to forecourt within two working days, suits the business model that more dealers are facing. We enable them to better react to local market demand and improve stock mix.’

The company is one of the few with high hopes for 2009, too. It claims that investment in logistics, and growing contacts with manufacturers and large fleet operators, place it well for more growth in 2009.

Car Dealer will be following its fortunes closely in 2009, to see if it can indeed prosper.
