Volkswagen dealer sends apology to diesel owners

Time 12:58 pm, November 6, 2015

AN AMERICAN VW dealership has written to diesel owners offering its sympathy for their difficult situation, as dealers attempt to pick up the pieces in the wake of the emissions scandal.

Beyer Volkswagen, located in Winchester, Virginia, sent the printed note to owners this week, according to TDIClub.

Making efforts to appease customers in the wake of the VW scandal, the note contains phrases such as ‘our thoughts & oil changes are with you during this difficult time’, and ‘we will always cherish the beautiful memories, the great gas mileage and performance’.

It is clear that the dealer uses the card to distance itself from VW’s cover-up, with phrases such as ‘we need to address their errors as best we can.’

The notice also contains a number of offers available to stricken owners, such as a trade-in scheme and even a ‘brand switch’ offer, allowing owners to swap their VW for another manufacturer from Beyer’s other franchises, such as Land Rover, Volvo and Kia.
