df41c4a0-3b21-4172-a7a2-637984a7d8edHOT on the heels of the unveiling of the brand new BMW 3 series, Audi has revealed a makeover to its A4 range.

Top of the agenda are facelifted looks and the S4 sports saloon and avant now managing to crack the 0-60mph dash in just under five seconds, while returning 39.3mpg.

All models – saloon, avant, allroad and S4 – now benefit from a revised look.

New lights which have a ‘slight wave at their bottom edges’ feature, as do reprofiled bumpers, a more arched bonnet, and cleaner, smoother rear engine treatment.

Inside the car benefits from small modifications including new steering wheels, upholsteries remodelled and ‘re-coordinated’, and a new MMI system which has four instead of eight buttons.

A refreshed engine line-up will also be on offer. Straight from the A5 Sportback comes the new, 170bhp, 1.8-litre four-cylinder TFSI – which now returns 50.4mpg – and joins the entry-level 118bhp 1.8-litre unit, a 2.0-litre TFSI and the 3.0-litre V6 engine for the S4.

The 2.0-litre is bound to be the pick of the engine line-up. There’s now five versions of the 2.0-litre TDI – 118bhp, 134bhp, 141bhp, 161bhp and 175bhp – which join the 3.0-litre six-cylinder TDI in either 204 or 245bhp forms.
