Plan to save Las Iguanas restaurant operator from administration approved

A plan to save the company which runs dozens of Las Iguanas restaurants from entering administration has been approved by a High Court judge.

Iguanas Holdings Limited runs 44 Las Iguanas restaurants across the UK, but its lawyers told a hearing on Friday that the company was ‘heavily loss-making’ and would ‘inevitably enter administration’ if the restructure was not approved.

The restructuring plan, which was approved by the majority of the company’s creditors, will wipe out debts of around £37m owed to one of Iguanas Holdings’ creditors and see Big Table inject £3m into the company as part of a ‘turnaround strategy’.

UK firms plan to raise prices by less than thought in April, survey finds

UK firms have said they expect to increase prices less sharply than predicted in the aftermath of the Iran war, but more than half still plan to do so in response to the energy shock, according to Bank of England data.

The central bank’s latest survey of finance bosses across UK companies suggested that price growth expectations had eased back slightly in May from the month before.

The Decision Maker Panel (DMP) survey showed that firms expected to increase their prices by 4% over the next 12 months, according to data for May. This is 0.4 percentage points lower than predicted in April.

The leaders of the UK, Ukraine, France and Germany have discussed the ‘urgent need’ to ramp up production of defensive weapons and deep-strike capabilities after Russia fired Oreshnik missiles at Ukraine, Downing Street said.

The leaders called on Russian president Vladimir Putin to agree ‘an immediate and complete ceasefire’ with the current line of contact as a starting point for any negotiations, Downing Street said.
