ALTHOUGH today’s SMMT figures have revealed a record year for new car registrations in 2015, reaching a total of 2.6 million, in some parts of the UK they declined.
While new car registrations increased by 7.39 per cent year-on-year in England to 2,254,548 and by 2.53 per cent in Wales to 93,225, Northern Ireland and Scotland saw decreases.
In Northern Ireland, new car registrations fell by 0.18 per cent from 57,202 in 2014 to 57,097 in 2015.
Meanwhile, Scotland witnessed a larger 0.46 per cent drop from 221,570 in 2014 to 220,554 in 2015.
