THE new year brought a new set of strips for a boys’ football team in the north-east – and it was all thanks to Jennings Kia, part of the award-winning Jennings Motor Group.
Competing in the Russell Foster Youth League, the under-8s team from Farringdon Detached Football Club have been kitted out in a full set of strips thanks to the dealership in Parsons Road, Washington, Tyne and Wear.
To mark the recent sponsorship deal, franchise manager David Phillips paid a visit to Farringdon Community Academy in Sunderland to meet the team and see them in action in their new strips.
Phillips said: ‘We are absolutely delighted to be sponsoring the team. They are a group of very talented and enthusiastic youngsters and their passion for football shines through.’
Having already played eight games since the start of the season, with a total of six wins and only two defeats to date, team coach Doug Peart is confident the strips will further boost morale for the youngsters.
Peart said: ‘We are proud to have such a prestigious dealership as Jennings Kia supporting the team and the club.
‘Morale was already high, but delivery of the new strips – which look absolutely fantastic – has given an added boost.’
Farringdon Detached FC was set up in 2003 with one under-16s team. Over the years, the club has expanded and today has a total of 14 teams.
