Hendy begins work on three new Eastleigh showrooms

Time 12:56 pm, February 16, 2018

CONSTRUCTION work has started on three new Hendy Group showrooms in Eastleigh, Hampshire, as part of the group’s on-going expansion plans.

The new showrooms will be on one site, and house 27 cars from three of Hendy’s brands: Honda, Mazda and Kia. 120 used cars will also be on site, and a 20 bay workshop will serve customers’ servicing needs.

How the finished product will look

In addition, the group’s existing local site on Leigh Road will now be dedicated to Ford products.

Hendy chief executive Paul Hendy commented: ‘We are delighted to put our Hampshire expansion plans into action with these three brand new dealerships which are due to open before the end of the year.’

The new site will be built on just over one hectare of land, and will be built to BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) standards, which ensure that environmental sustainability is a key focus of the development.

Examples of sustainability in the plans for the facilities include solar panels on the roof, water recycling in the valet bay and electric charge points, to meet the ever-increasing number of hybrid and electric cars.

The new showrooms are expected to employ 90 people, and the project is part of a partnership with Eastleigh Borough Council, which retains ownership of the site as part of its property portfolio.

Mayor of Eastleigh Maureen Sollitt said: ‘I’m delighted to officially get this exciting new Hendy car showroom development underway. It brings more business investment into our borough and will provide additional jobs and opportunities for local people.’
