Time 9:36 am, May 29, 2020

Nissan stalwart Tony Lewis has left his position as managing director of dealer group West Way.

Lewis will be leaving the group on Monday, June 1 to ‘pursue other interests’ and will be succeeded in the role the same day by Jon Roberts.

West Way is the wholly owned Nissan dealer group subsidiary in the UK and has 15 dealerships.

Lewis, who has been with Nissan for 12 years, had been in charge of the dealer group since 2016. Before that, he was sales director at Nissan GB for five years.

He had previously worked for Nissan Europe and was a director for Infiniti in northern Europe.

Roberts joined Nissan in 2002 as West Way group fleet manager, overseeing the rapid expansion of UK fleet and LCV sales. Roles have included head of fleet operations and regional director of West Way. Since 2016, he has been the MD of Infiniti Retail Group and, more recently, Infiniti UK country director.

‘Nissan has been part of my life for nearly 20 years and I am delighted to be reunited with my colleagues at West Way,’ said Roberts.

‘There will no doubt be significant challenges ahead as our showrooms reopen over the coming weeks. However, there are also exciting opportunities to innovate and develop our e-commerce offering across sales and aftersales.

‘I look forward to leading West Way and collaborating with Nissan Motor GB colleagues to help our industry reshape car retailing and secure a bright future.’

Andrew Humberstone, managing director of NMGB, said: ‘We welcome Jon to the Nissan team and I look forward to working together to meet the challenges that we all face, and to capitalise on the opportunities we can see ahead.

‘With the successful recent launch of Juke, a new Qashqai on the horizon and an electric crossover coming, Nissan is well placed to meet consumer demand and build towards a successful future.

‘We thank Tony for his significant contribution to Nissan over many years, including leading the Nissan sales team to record sales volumes in 2015, and more recently his work with West Way in winning the Best Large Dealer Group and Global Dealer Award. I wish him the very best for the future.’
