AFTER much anticipation from M car fans BMW has announced an M version of the 1 Series Coupe.
When the new BMW 1 Series M Coupe arrives in showrooms next year, the car will be the smallest and most affordable M car in BMW’s range.
But that does not mean the newcomer won’t impress. Under the bonnet lies a 340bhp, twin turbocharged 3-litre six-cylinder engine, allowing the car to launch to 60mph in 4.7 seconds, while returning an MPG figure of 29.4.
The 1 Series M Coupe sits 55mm wider than its 135i Coupe cousin, with widened wheel arches and comes with an array of equipment. Exclusive 19-inch Y-spoke M alloy wheels, dual chrome tailpipes, a discreet spoiler lip, a rear apron with side openings, and an elongated chrome gill will differ the M from the rest of the 1 Series Coupe range.
Inside sports seats with orange stitching come as standard, as too does two-zone air-conditioning, cruise control, BMW Radio Business with MP3-capable CD player and six speakers.
Set to go on sale in May 2011, the new M car will be priced at £39,990 OTR, with the first customer deliveries expected in May.
