THIS is BMW’s answer to the complaint that the current Mini is too large to bear the famous name – enter the Rocketman Concept.
BMW Mini might be saying that this is a concept ‘geared to the demands of a contemporary target group’, but it’s a concept to explore the possibility of whether a smaller Mini could work.
The 10 ft. 11 in. Rocketman is three+one-seater with three doors, and continues the same principles of large interior space in a small sized car. The capacity of the luggage compartment, therefore, can be adapted to the passengers’ requirements, innovative door and tailgate technology ensures extremely comfortable entry and uncomplicated loading, while side sills integrated into the doors allow the entry area to reach well into the interior.
BMW has gone to great length to ensure the Rocketman’s proportions make it ‘immediately recognisable as a member of the brand family.’ So large headlights and the chrome-bordered radiator grille dominate the front end.
The concept will be on show at Geneva this week. BMW, however, are giving no details as to whether the mini Mini will be built.
