kiarednoseKIA dealers have helped Kia Motors UK raise more than £29k for Comic Relief through a special sale of ‘pimped up’ motors.

28 Kia dealers ‘pimped up’ 31 old trade-in vehicles into something hot enough to be auctioned for charity, and in the process helped raise a final sum of £29,625.

The ‘Pimp My Part-Ex’ auction, held at BCA Measham the pimped cars sold. The cars were presented to the highest standards and had a valid MOT and road licence. The difference between the stand in value of all vehicles and the final auction sale price went to Comic Relief.

Vehicles that took part in the fundraising efforts included three Kia Rios and one Kia Picanto, as well as Ford Kas, Renault Meganes and an MGF amongst others.

Bolton Kia transformed an old Kia Picanto into a red nose emblazoned design, complete with red alloy wheel trims, while the standout lot of the day was a nearly-new Kia Rio, donated by Kia UK, which sparked a bidding war and saw the hammer go down at £4,100.

David Hart, dealer marketing manager at Kia Motors UK said: ‘I’m really proud of all the dealerships that took part in the ‘Pimp My Part-Ex’ auction. Red Nose Day is all about a positive change through the power of entertainment, and Kia Motors UK very much embraced this mission with its fundraising efforts.

‘We were overwhelmed at the support from the auction room floor for this very worthy cause, and I’m in no doubt that all our dealers had a lot of fun in the process!’

Simon Henstock, UK operations director at BCA said: ‘The Kia ‘Pimp My Part-Ex’ auction was a huge success and created genuine excitement amongst bidders. This is the second time we’ve joined forces with Kia to help raise money for Comic Relief, and we were impressed at the quality of workmanship that went into each vehicle in the auction.

‘There was certainly a lot of creativity that went into some of the designs and I’ve no doubt a few smiles were raised this Red Nose Day.’
