CAR supermarket Motorpoint has announced it will open its seventh showroom on Lichfield Road, Birmingham, in July.
The news, which follows the successful launch of the Chingford site in Essex, represents further expansion for Motorpoint and reflects the company’s recent growth.
The 5.7 acre site at 2 Lichfield Road, just half a mile from junction 1 of the A38(M), is currently undergoing its refurbishment. Once complete it will hold at least 400 vehicles at a time and is expected to sell 6,500 new and nearly new low mileage cars in its first full year of trading.
The former Mercedes Commercial Vehicle dealership will be the first dedicated Motorpoint site to serve the west Midlands, and the Birmingham showroom is estimated to provide roughly 50 new jobs to the local area.
‘This is an exciting step for Motorpoint,’ said managing director, Mark Carpenter. ‘With an 18 per cent increase in sales in the last 12 months, and plans to open an additional dealership towards the end of 2013, Motorpoint is bucking the current economic trend.
‘On average, we sell a car every seven minutes and last year we saved our customers over £171 million – when comparing the discounted price of our cars to the list price.’
