JAGUAR has announced limited UK sales of its extreme record-breaking XKR-S GT.
10 examples of the track-prepared XKR-S GT will come road-ready for UK customers at a price of £135,000 with first deliveries planned for October 2013.
Since its launch at the New York International Auto Show, a prototype version of the Jaguar XKR-S GT has been undertaking numerous test programmes both and off the track, in Germany and the UK.
The prototype showcased its supercar-rivalling capabilities during its recent run on the Nurburgring, where it completed one lap in an outstanding 7 minutes and 40 seconds – making it the fastest ever road-legal Jaguar at the Nordschleife circuit.
Previously, sales of the XKR-S have been limited to 30 units in the US and Canada, but interest has continued to flourish.
The XKR-S more recently made its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, with six-time Olympic Champion, Sir Chris Hoy behind the wheel.
Powered by Jaguar’s proven 542bhp, supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine, which is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and active electronic differential, the XKR-S GT can catapult from 0-60mph in just 3.9 seconds and has a limited top speed of 186mph.
To ensure the XKR-S will slow down, it uses a new carbon ceramic brake system – a first for a production Jaguar.
It also features a new development of front and rear suspension, which includes a wider front track, increased camber and revised bushings. It also has a new steering system and faster steering ratio, all of which was developed and derived from the new F-Type two-seater sports car.
