Aston Martin’s Vantage S

Time 3:20 am, January 26, 2011

vantages1ASTON Martin has added yet another model to its successful Vantage range in the form of the new V8 Vantage S.

The newcomer is designed to bridge the gap between the standard V8 Vantage and Aston’s Vantage GT4 racer.

The firm’s own 4.7 litre V8 engine has been engineered to deliver peak power of 430 bhp and is coupled with a new ground-up developed Sportshift II transmission specifically designed for the Vantage S with seven short ratio gears.

A quickened steering rack ratio, larger diameter front brake discs, new springs and dampers, and wider rear wheels make up the chassis revisions to the S, while bespoke tyres have been developed with Bridgestone to ‘optimise road holding’.

The new Sportshift system also features a sport button which quickens the gear changes and gives a more aggressive throttle response, and a new exhaust muffler has been developed for the S giving it a distinctive sound.

The Vantage S also has exterior modifications too. A new lower front bumper, new 19 inch ‘V’ spoke wheel styles are available as standard, and a new rear bumper and side sills ‘optically widen the car.’

Dr. Ulrich Bez, CEO of Aston Martin, said: ‘The Vantage S epitomises every attribute of the V8 Vantage and pushes the driver experience beyond what we have offered before. It combines dynamic exhilaration with all the charming finesse, beauty and practicality already associated with the Vantage range.’
