Big Motoring World to expand its Kent HQ after a ‘highly successful’ spell

Time 9:09 am, June 24, 2016

LEADING premium used car supermarket Big Motoring World is set to expand its Kent headquarters to radically increase trading and grow the business.

After announcing ambitious expansion plans last August, the firm has secured planning permission to expand its operations.

Purchased this spring, Big Motoring World will begin developing its new 22-acre site at Blue Bell Hill in Kent, next to junction three of the M2. The site will become home to a new, modern car supermarket displaying thousands of BMW, Mercedes and Audi vehicles. The investment will create more than 300 jobs.

Strong continued growth within the company has propelled the expansion plans as the organisation aims to also build on the adjoining seven-acre site at its West Malling operation.

This will double the capacity of vehicles on offer. This proposed expansion is forecasted to create just under additional 200 jobs, bringing the total of prospective employment opportunities to nearly 500.

Commenting on the plans ahead, Peter Waddell, CEO of Big Motoring World, said: ‘We are delighted to announce the vast growth of the company which will deliver a great wealth of choice to our customers.

‘These plans come after a number of highly successful years within the firm. Praise must go to my management team and staff who keep surprising me with the figures. Last year we experienced a 281 percent growth in sales accompanied by a fruitful turnover of £175m. This year looks to be even stronger.

‘With the expansion to Blue Bell Hill, we are forecasting combined sales of 35,000 cars across our sites over the next two years as the business continues to go from strength to strength.’
