Cannock classic car show

Time 4:48 am, November 9, 2010

cannock-renaultA SELECTION of Renault’s sportiest ever models were on display recently at a Staffordshire Renault dealership.

Cannock Renault displayed some of the French marque’s most memorable performance models at their dealership for a special, free classic car show.

The inaugral event showcased four rally-winning Alpine A110s from the 1970s, a Renault 8S Gordini, a Renault 5 Turbo 2, an A310 Gp 4, 3 A610s and 5 GTAs including a rare GTA Le Mans.

Modern day classic, Renaultsport’s Clio V6, also made an appearance at the event.

The cars were all on display thanks to the generosity of members from Club Alpine Renault.

Club Chairman Barry Jayes – who also lives in Cannock – said: ‘The day was a great success and thankfully the rain stayed away too! It was great to showcase so many different classic Renault Alpine models to members of the public and we’re very grateful to everyone who came and of course to Renault Cannock for staging this fantastic event.’

Ian Smith, sales manager at Renault Cannock, added: ‘Everyone really enjoyed the day and it was great to have both past and present Renault models on display together. The event went down really well and we’re hoping this will be the first of many classic car shows held at Renault Cannock.’
