Hawkins1 HAWKINS Motors has unveiled a new showroom in Penryn, to accommodate its new Mitsubishi franchise.

The family-run business, which has been based at the site for 16 years selling Peugeot cars, acquired the new Mitsubishi franchise in October last year.

The new site at Park Garage has taken eight months to build and involved shifting a hefty 7,000 tonnes of earth to level the site.

The showroom offers sales, service and parts to Mitsubishi customers in the Penryn area and now has a dedicated bay for people collecting new vehicles.

Within the next three years there are also plans to build a third showroom and dealer principal, Richard May, hopes to set up an off-road course on nearby land to demonstrate abilities of Mitsubishi’s 4x4s to its customers.

‘Franchises that are worth having don’t come along too often so when we got the chance to take on Mitsubishi we jumped at it,’ said May. ‘It makes perfect sense for us and we see the whole range as a great opportunity for us.’

May has also hired a Mitsubishi specialist, senior sales executive Neil Jacques, who has 38 years in the industry, including 10 with Mitsubishi.

‘Neil’s knowledge is fantastic. We want people to drive away from our new showroom and think that the whole experience couldn’t have been any better,’ May added.
