MITSUBISHI is the latest car manufacturer to react to the News of the World phone hacking allegations.
The Japanese firm said that it will donate the money it would normally spend on advertising in the tabloid newspaper to charity.
On the social media site Twitter, the manufacturer said that ‘Based on a Facebook user suggestion, Mitsubishi is donating its #NoTW (News of the World) ad spend to the Childline charity.’
It’s the latest story surrounding car manufacturers pulling their advertising from the News of the World.
Earlier today both Vauxhall and Renault announced that they would not be advertising with the newspaper for the forseable future.
Yesterday, Ford made the headlines after being the first to pull its advertising due to allegations journalists working for the tabloid paper had hacked into murdered girl Milly Dowler’s mobile phone.
In a statement, the firm said: ‘Ford is a company which cares about the standards of behaviour of its own people and those it deals with externally. We are awaiting an outcome from the News of the World investigation and expect a speedy and decisive response. Pending this response we will be using alternative media within and outside News International Group instead of placing Ford advertising in the News of the World.’
