MOTORPOINT has helped raise £21,000 for the John van Geest Cancer Research Centre.
The car supermarket supported the Nottingham-based centre as part of its main sponsorship of the annual Angel Charity Ball late last year together with Alea Casinos, Big Table PR, Keith Willis Associates and the Walton Hotel.
Built in 2010, John van Geest Cancer Research Centre is a purpose-built scientific facility at the Nottingham Trent University Clifton campus dedicated to improving the early diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
David Shelton, founder of Motorpoint, together with representatives from the other sponsors, paid a special visit to the centre to see the important research work carried out by Professor Bob Rees and his team. He was also there to present a cheque for the money raised from the ball hosted by Sam and Jennie from the radio station Gem 106.
Shelton said: ‘It was a real privilege to see for ourselves the ground-breaking work that the team are doing to fight cancer. And it was good to discover where the money that was raised by the charity auction will be invested over the coming years.’
Kerry Mathie, Angel Ball event organiser and director of Big Table PR, added: ‘Big Table PR was delighted to have such a prestigious company as Motorpoint as title sponsors of the ball.
‘Together, with ALEA Casinos, Keith Willis Associates and the Walton Hotel, the event was able to raise and donate £21,000 to this year’s chosen charity, the John van Geest Cancer Research Centre.
‘The event is so well established and does so much good for local cancer charities, but it would not be possible to be so supportive without the generosity of those who attend and, of course, our sponsors.’
