Our Hyundai i10 World Cup car sells for £5,005

Time 6:14 am, August 10, 2010

i10-football-33OUR Hyundai i10 World Cup car has SOLD on auction website eBay for a staggering £5,005!

The grass-covered car was the fourth step on the ladder in our attempt to turn £0 into a Porsche 911 by 2011 and has boosted our coffers enormously!

We won’t reveal how much we paid for the car here – you’ll have to wait until you get the next issue for that (out August 16) – but suffice to say we’re VERY happy with the profit.

The huge final sale price is down to a PR campaign Alastair Campbell would be proud of. The Hyundai has featured on websites across the world, BBC News South Today and even The Daily Telegraph.

The auction had an amazing 2,971 views and by the time it had finished there were 86 watchers, which just goes to show the level of interest there was in the car.

Now all we need is for the buyer to get in touch, get it shifted off the drive (that’ll please the Mrs) and find something to invest our pot of cash in next.

We’re planning – as we were last month – to head to the auctions. Unless, that is, someone comes along with an offer we can’t refuse before then. And I’ve got a phone call to make now about exactly that…
