Here’s what you might have missed this week…

Monday – AA president, Edmund King OBE

Leading transport commentator and road safety campaigner Edmund King OBE joined the show on Monday. King chatted about how AA patrols kept key workers moving during lockdown, the challenges surrounding educating customers about electric cars and smart motorways.

Special show – Tuesday – Derren Martin

In a special show outside of our usual three shows a week programme, we spoke to Cap HPI’s head of valuations, Derren Martin. He bravely told James Baggott the story of his prostate cancer scare – and urged other men in the motor trade to get themselves checked. A show not to be missed.

Wednesday – John O’Hanlon, Waylands Automotive CEO

Waylands Automotive CEO John O’Hanlon appeared on the show on Wednesday. The former boss of dealer group Ridgeway, O’Hanlon told viewers how he built up Waylands from scratch in 2017, which now runs four key Volvo dealerships including Volvo’s longest-servicing dealership in England – Fawcetts of Newbury. O’Hanlon chatted about how new car sales are now on a near equal footing with used car sales.

Friday – Independent Motor Dealer Association, Umesh Samani

Industry favourite Umesh Samani joined the show on Friday and with host James Batchelor spoke a range of issues affecting dealers at the moment, including sourcing used car stock and confusion surrounding government messaging, especially with face masks. The pair also spoke about social media and the importance of being the face of a brand.
