Ford names the Apprentice

Time 9:46 am, November 11, 2008

COMMITMENT has paid off for one young Ford Apprentice.

Andover Ford’s Danny Cooper has just been named Ford Body Panel Apprentice of the Year.

It’s fine reward for the 19 year old – who prepared early for his career in the motor industry. He used to work in the Ford dealer, unpaid, on Saturdays and during school holidays, just so he could see how things are done in a modern body shop, said Andover Ford accident repair centre manager Dave Clark.

‘Having done his three-year apprenticeship, Danny is now in his final year improver stage before becoming a fully-fledged body panel technician.

“People who have an accident in the Andover area are going to appreciate Danny’s skills at beating their car back into shape.

‘Danny is clear proof to the younger generation that dedication brings its rewards. Not everyone needs to go off to university to be regarded as a high achiever. He was up against every Ford body shop apprentice in the country – and has come out on top.’

‘I’ve always loved working with cars, which is why I was ready to put in all the hard work,’ said Cooper.

‘I would recommend an apprenticeship, no matter what the trade to be followed, to anyone who does not necessarily want to leave school and go into full-time further education.’

Just the advert you need for tempting the next wave of apprentices into your business. If they can become as highly skilled as Cooper has at this Ford dealer, they’ll be a fine asset to your business.
