Chinese brand Aion has completed its first vehicle handovers as it looks to establish its presence in the UK.

Car Dealer reported earlier this month that the outfit had opened its first nine UK dealerships and customers are now starting to take the keys to their cars.

The honour of being the first handover went to a Mr and Mrs King, from South Wales, who collected their car from Bassetts Swansea earlier this week.

The couple say they were drawn to Aion’s V SUV by its premium look, affordable price and competitive warranty package.

Mrs King said: ‘The quality of the Aion V, both inside and out, is what first drew us to it; being able to have a premium look and feel for an affordable price made it an easy decision.

Plus, Aion’s Great 8 Promise gave us the confidence and reassurance to try a new brand, knowing that Bassetts will support us for as long as we have the car.’

Jon Wakefield, managing director of Aion Auto UK, added: ‘We have spent the past 18 months optimising the Aion V for UK customers, roads and driving habits, and have worked incredibly hard to develop a compelling ownership proposition with the AION Great 8 Promise.

‘To now see the first customer handover take place is an incredibly proud moment for the whole Aion team.

‘From the exceptional product itself to the comprehensive supporting ecosystem around it, our Effortless Electrification mantra makes it easy to switch to an EV. I look forward to seeing the AION V becoming a familiar sight on UK roads.’
