vertu-peterleeBRISTOL Street Motors has re-launched a former motor retail site in County Durham as a Hyundai dealership.

The dealer group – part of Vertu Motors – has made a substantial investment of £1.5m in its new dealership based at Peterlee in County Durham, after acquiring the former Paul Cummings specialist car site.

The site became available after the recession took its toll on the previous business occupier. The fully refurbished showroom also boasts state-of-the-art MOT and servicing facilities on site.

Councillor Neil Foster, cabinet member for regeneration and economic development for Durham Country Council, said: ‘This is a fantastic development for Peterlee. It’s great to see that a national company, which also has its headquarters in the North East, can see the potential for economic growth and the regeneration opportunities in the town.

‘It will hopefully provide other businesses with the confidence to invest in this area of County Durham.’

Robert Forrester, chief executive of Vertu Motors plc, said: ‘We are committed to investing in Peterlee and supporting the positive economic growth in the area. By redeveloping the redundant site, the dealership, which is located just off the A19, is perfectly located for customers in Peterlee and the surrounding towns.

‘Completely renovating and installing the highest quality servicing facilities to the abandoned site demonstrates our commitment to Peterlee and fits with the dynamic business growth plans of Vertu Motors plc.’

Billy Taylor, general manager at Bristol Street Motors Peterlee, said: ‘The Hyundai franchise dealership is a fantastic site which can hold up to 110 high quality new and used cars. The Bristol Street Motors name is synonymous with good quality, great deals and very knowledgeable customer service representatives. The whole team is looking forward to being officially open.’
