ONE CAR caused a media storm driving back from Bangers4Ben this year – the AA’s tank!
It picked up a lot of attention with the team receiving several bids to buy it. To make things fair, they listed the car on eBay, and it finally sold last night for an impressive £2,700!
The 2000 Volvo V70 was the winning car from the banger rally to the Alps in October. All proceeds from the sale will go to the charity Ben, which strives to care for the wellbeing of workers in the automotive industry.
The eBay advert read: ‘This Volvo has been converted for a charity run for the best five driving roads in the Alps. It is a powerful car that has just faultlessly covered 3000 Miles averaging over 30 mpg and it was the winning car out of 40 others in the Bangers4Ben 2017 charity run.
‘All proceeds will go to the charity Ben. A secure well made conversion, with a pop up tank commander that can wave – an ideal promo car or wedding car! Drives extremely well with everything working.’
The tank was the last of the bangers to be sold, with the other cars selling for more than £24,000 at BCA Blackbushe on October 27. With the Swedish tank making another £2,700, and additional fundraising, Bangers4Ben has now broken the £59,000 mark.
Our thanks to everyone who took part in Bangers4Ben, bid on the vehicles, and supported the event! The full coverage of the event will appear in the next issue of Car Dealer Magazine.
