A DEALERSHIP in Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire, is appealing for local people to help it mark a milestone in its history.
Bosses at TL Darby Volkswagen hope that past and present staff and customers, local historians and neighbouring traders will be able to share photographs of the showroom and its vehicles over the past 48 years for a time capsule.
Jessica Liptrot, marketing assistant for TL Darby, explained: ‘Later this year we are moving the business from our current location in the old fire station building on New Street to a modern purpose-built showroom at Centrum East Retail Park, and we urgently need ‘‘memories’’ for a time capsule to be buried at the new site.
‘We would like to save some of the company’s past for posterity – but we just don’t have many photographs of our own.
‘So we are appealing to the people of Burton to share any pictures they have. Did you pose for a photo outside the dealership with your brand new Beetle? Or were you formerly one of our workshop team and had your long-service award captured on camera?
‘Maybe you are a local historian who has recorded the changing face of Burton over the past half-century. If so, you might just have images of TL Darby from the past that we can include in our time capsule.
‘Any photographs offered will be copied and the originals returned safely to their owner. We just ask that we are given permission to use the pictures to celebrate our launch events this winter and also save a copy for our 50th anniversary celebrations in 2016.’
TL Darby Volkswagen is a privately-owned family business established 48 years ago. The company supplies new and used vehicles and also provides aftersales, authorised parts, servicing and has paint and body centre facilities.
