Jardine Motors Group’s new 15,000 sq ft dealership ncorporates a number of energy-saving technologies. Efficient insulation, lighting and ventilation solutions have all been integrated, helping to reduce the overall carbon footprint of the business and yielding a BREEAM rating of ‘very good’.

It also features a double-height showroom and a workshop with eight state-of-the-art service bays and an MoT bay for vehicles up to seven tonnes.

The scheme was procured by developer Grangewood Brentwood (for Jardine Motors Group) with construction work starting in June 2014. Jardine Motors Group, a leading UK dealer of new and used cars, trades in Chelmsford under the Lancaster Toyota brand.

Rapleys served as employer’s agent, project and cost manager, and CDM coordinator. Alastair Bliss, senior associate at Rapleys, said: ‘We are thrilled to have worked with Grangewood Brentwood to deliver this exciting new scheme for Jardine Motors Group.

‘We relish the opportunity to work on environmentally-responsible projects such as this.’

Colin Chambers, director of Grangewood Brentwood, said: ‘The construction programme was particularly challenging with dates that could absolutely not be missed. A vital aspect of the project was coordinating and integrating fit-out works within the main contract period without causing delay. This was successfully achieved and the new dealership was trading within 72 hours of practical completion.’
