PORSCHE Cars GB managing director Marcus Eckermann welcomed more than 500 guests to celebrate the manufacturer’s new showroom opening in Preston.

The state-of-the-art 43,000 sq ft Porsche Centre, which is part of the Bowker Motor Group, brings the total centre network in the UK and Ireland to 42. It officially opened in May, but a celebratory event was held last Thursday, hosted by Eckermann and Bowker Motor Group chief executive Paul Bowker, who said it was the best-attended launch in the group’s history.

The dealership, at the junction of Watery Lane and Strand Road, boasts a 35-car showroom and 13-bay workshop plus two customer handover bays, two direct-dialogue bays for on-the-spot diagnosis, and electric vehicle charging points.

Bowker added: ‘Ever since we announced our plans to build a Porsche centre here in Preston, we have been overwhelmed by the support we have received. Thursday night was the perfect way to celebrate alongside customers and colleagues who have backed us to bring this prestigious automotive brand to Lancashire.

‘We were also especially grateful to the team at Porsche GB for their partnership and Marcus Eckermann for joining us for our celebration. We look forward to establishing Porsche Centre Preston as one of the best in the UK and Ireland.’
