Smiths Hyundai opens for business

Hyundai_iX35_043-2366493503-OSMITHS Group has opened a new Hyundai showroom in Peterborough.

A £500,000 investment by the group has resulted in a spacious eight-car showroom, which features under-floor heating and air conditioning.

According to Peterborough Today, the investment follows Smiths’ addition of the Hyundai franchise in January. Until recently, it operated out of temporary premises at their site in the Bretton area of the town, which also houses its Nissan and Renault franchises.

A number of special guests attended the official opening including Smiths Group MD Daniel Fitzjohn and CEO of the South Korean brand’s UK operation, Tony Whitehorn. About 100 people were in attendance in total.

Brand manager for Smiths Hyundai, Phil Lewin, told Peterborough Today: ‘It was a chance to say thank you to some of our customers old and new, our staff and the builders, Princebuild, who worked on the showroom.

‘We had about 100 people come along to enjoy a champagne reception, some Korean nibbles and a martial arts display and it all went very well.

‘The official function last week saw a plaque unveiled, but we actually opened for business in the new showroom on July 20 and things have been very promising.

‘It is a big investment, but it is a state-of-the-art facility which is what Hyundai expects for its customers. And it really complements Smiths’ whole Bretton operation.

‘We now have Hyundai, Nissan and Renault showrooms on one site offering new and used cars, as well as servicing and parts and a full bodyshop.

‘It makes Smiths in Bretton something of a motoring destination with a wide choice of vehicles.’
