TrustFord preparing for charity driving challenge

Time 12:03 pm, September 21, 2019

TRUSTFORD, the UK’s largest Ford dealer network, has announced that it will once again be holding its charity driving challenge, Breakout for Ben 2019.

Breakout for Ben hopes to see more than 50 teams jump into a Ford Focus or Ford Tourneo to drive as far away from TrustFord’s fleet distribution centre in Long Marston as they can in 25 hours. Teams will leave at 11am on October 17.

The challenge was created last year and raised £112,000 for Ben, a charity providing support to those in the automotive industry. This year, TrustFord has set itself the ambitious target of raising £150,000.

For the first time, suppliers are being invited to participate. Applications are now open for affiliate companies to take part in a specially-branded Breakout for Ben Ford vehicle.

Teams will be competing for a range of awards including the Chairman’s Prize for the team reaching the furthest destination. Last year’s teams travelled over 35,000 miles cumulatively, reaching places such as Leuca in southern Italy and Malmo in Sweden.

Stuart Foulds, pictured, chairman and chief executive of TrustFord, said: ‘Ben is a hugely important charity to all of us in the automotive industry. Last year’s Breakout for Ben was the largest single fundraising event we have ever completed as a group, and it made us all immensely proud. This year we are setting out to make it even bigger and better.’

The event will take place shortly after Car Dealer Magazine’s own fund-raising rally, Bangers4Ben, now in its 11th year.
