A FOOTBALL team in Glenrothes will be heading out in new kit next season thanks to the support of a local motoring business.
Glenrothes Athletic 2005’s football team will be donning new shirts for the 2016/17 season after receiving a cash boost from Specialist Cars Volkswagen Fife.
The team picked up the new kit from the Caxton Place business after taking a tour of the dealership, including the bodyshop and workshop.
The team plays seven aside football at the Gilvenbank Park facility and includes two teams with three goalkeepers and sixteen outfield players.
Nickie Turner, Glenrothes Athletic football coach and technician at Specialist Cars Volkswagen Fife, said: ‘We are grateful for the sponsorship. The kids grow so quickly and it also gives them a bit more pride when they look their best.
‘All money that is donated to the club goes back into the kids’ development, whether it’s for kit, equipment or our tournaments throughout the country.’
Paul Lanni, brand director at Specialist Cars Volkswagen Fife, added: ‘As a local business it is always important for us to support the local community. We are delighted to be able to sponsor the youngsters as they develop their skills.
‘Everyone at the Fife Volkswagen wishes Glenrothes Athletic 2005’s every success for next season.’
