VAUXHALL dealer Approach – which runs dealerships in Andover, in Hampshire, and Salisbury, in Wiltshire – has gone into administration.
Car Dealer was tipped off by a customer wanting to get into contact with the dealer, but was told that they had ceased trading and was advised to take their business elsewhere.
‘It’s very bad news,’ said our source. ‘As far as I am aware Approach has been trading in Andover for the past 50 years. This comes after the Southgate administration earlier this year. It’s a bad time in this area.’
Car Dealer contacted Vauxhall and the maker confirmed the news: ‘Approach in Andover and Salisbury are going to serve administration. All staff have been notified.
‘Vauxhall will stand behind all deposits that have been taken on all new vehicles. We are directing business to Vauxhall dealers CSM and Eden.’
David Blenkarn and Greg Palfrey of Smith & Williamson have been appointed as the two administrators of Approach (UK) Ltd from Thursday August 23.
Blenkarn said: ‘Unfortunately the business is unable to continue trading so our focus is to seek to ensure customers do not lose out and to realise value in the company’s assets.
‘Customers who have bought Vauxhall vehicles through Approach (UK) Ltd may be reassured that, as with sales by any other Vauxhall dealer, the manufacturer will honour valid warranties in the usual way.
‘Staff at Approach (UK) Ltd have been informed of the administration and we are doing what we can to help in what is obviously an anxious and uncertain time for them and their families.
‘It has been a difficult trading environment for the company and ultimately the commercial pressures have been too great.’
