Car dealers have given ‘very positive’ feedback about selling Geely’s new range of cars, its UK boss has said.
Mike Yang, managing director of Geely Auto UK, told Car Dealer during a recent roundtable interview at the brand’s headquarters in Hangzhou, China, that the brand was working to be ‘open, fair and accessible’ with its range of new retailers as it kickstarted its 2026 operations.
‘The feedback from them is very positive and they keep a high confidence in the product and planning, and also in the background of Geely brands. They have confidence in our operation because in the UK we have a strong legal and compliance team’.
Yang added that even though Geely remains a China-centric brand, it does ‘everything following the UK culture and in the UK way’.
Geely launched in the UK late last year, arriving with its EX5 electric SUV. Already, the brand has amassed a number of dealer partners, including Sytner, Arnold Clark, Glyn Hopkin, Greenhous, and John Clark Motor Group.
Yang revealed that it was targeting to finish 2026 with 100 dealers across the country as it continues to sell its EX5 alongside budget-focused newcomer, the Starray. It’s also targeting yearly sales of 100,000 by 2030, which would put it above established brands such as Vauxhall, Toyota and Nissan.
Not content with the launch of Geely in the UK, Yang also mentioned that fellow Geely-umbrella brand Zeekr will launch in the UK at the ‘end of this year’ and start to deliver cars at the beginning of 2027.
Yang’s words came as Geely UK’s head of UK sales, Harry Bathe, appeared on the latest episode of the Car Dealer Podcast.
Bathe spoke in detail about how Geely is looking to capitalise on its ownership of Volvo, Polestar and Lotus in order to make a success at being a standalone brand in the UK.
