2012: A slow start

Time 11:37 pm, February 1, 2012

CAP has released its latest video which gives an update on the condition of the used car market in January.

It’s another video from the firm which outlines the state of the UK’s used car market.

In the video, CAP Black Book’s editor, Mark Bulmer, says: ‘Normally we expect January to begin with a real big bang with auctions being busy and values spiking in those first few weeks, but this year we have not seen that at all.

‘We’ve seen the auctions busy and there was plenty of stock at them, but values weren’t spiking as anticipated. When we looked a little more closely, we noticed that the stock at auction had been there before and had carried over from last year. It took about ten days for that to clear through, and for the dealer network to start selling some retail.’

Bulmer added there is a shortage of quality stock in the market place, at the moment.
