Motorline Group supports local hospices with donations totalling £30,000

Time 9:23 am, July 17, 2015

MOTORLINE_018AS PART of its continued support for charitable causes, the Kent-based Motorline Group has pledged its support to three local hospices.

At a presentation held at the company’s Renault, Hyundai and Maserati showroom in Parkwood, Maidstone, Motorline Group chairman Glen Obee presented three Kent hospices – Pilgrims Hospice in Canterbury, Hospice in the Weald in Pembury and the Heart of Kent Hospice in Maidstone – with cheques for £10,000 each.

All three establishments rely heavily on the charitable support of the local community to sustain the quality of care provided. Established 25 years ago, Heart of Kent Hospice has 10 beds at its in-patient unit which care for adults aged 18 and over. They look after around 350 families from Maidstone and Malling each week, helping around 1,000 individual families every year.

Hospice in the Weald, which has been established for over 30 years, cares for over 3,000 patients every year through its in-patient unit of 15 beds, hospice day service, hospice in the home service, counselling and lymphoedema services.

Pilgrims Hospice has been providing end-of-life care and support for patients with a range of life-limiting illnesses and their families across East Kent for more than 33 years. They care for more than 2,300 patients each year.

Obee said: ‘We have supported the Pilgrims Hospice in Canterbury for a number of years. This year we have decided to widen our scope of support across Kent by supporting two further hospices.

‘Motorline was founded in Kent and although we have grown to cover other parts of the UK, we feel it is vitally important we give something back to our community and in this case something that will directly benefit local patient comfort and care.’

Sara Clark, corporate fundraising manager at the Hospice in the Weald, said: ‘We are so grateful for the support of Motorline. Every donation we receive, no matter the size, makes such a difference.’

Founded in 1972, Motorline Group has become one of the UK’s largest motoring groups with over 900 employees. The company has dealerships across Kent, West Sussex, Surrey, Bristol and South Wales representing brands such as Volkswagen, Toyota, Lexus and Hyundai.
