BANGERS4BEN 2016 may seem like a long time ago, but there was one final task before we can put this year’s event to bed – the auction.
After our annual jolly across Europe, the bangers – those that had made it back in one piece – returned home to be primped and primed. One by one they then made their way to BCA Blackbushe, in anticipation of the colourful sale.
Every year, the auction company kindly sells the cars free of charge to ensure the maximum is raised for BEN. In addition, all buyer’s fees will be donated to the cause, which will raise the total even further.
The auction is now over and we can announce that Bangers4Ben 2016 has raised a total of £56,448.89, £14,032 coming from the sale of the cars, of which there are three more to sell.
Due to various reasons, not every banger that took part in the rally went to auction. However, those that didn’t have been sold elsewhere, or their owners have generously donated to Ben.
Kelly Neal, Head of Events at the charity, commented: ‘This year’s fundraising has raised a record amount and we would like to give our heartfelt thanks to all the teams who took part and to Car Dealer Magazine.
‘All the money raised will help Ben support automotive people and their families to navigate life’s toughest challenges and empower them to make lasting, positive change.’
Andy Entwistle, Managing Director of Blackball Media, said: ‘Bangers4Ben has grown to become a real highlight of the UK automotive calendar. But all the silliness is for a serious cause and to raise a record amount once again is fantastic! Especially knowing that all the proceeds will go to help fund Ben’s fabulous work to support thousands of individuals and families connected with the UK automotive industry.’
