From Daddy’s Home to dealership: Mark Wahlberg opens Chevrolet showroom

Time 11:31 am, July 23, 2018

Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg has moved into the world of car dealing by purchasing a Chevrolet site in Columbus, Ohio.

Along with business partner Jay Feldman, Wahlberg has purchased the former Bobby Layman Chevrolet business, having searched for an appropriate facility since last year.

Both the star and Feldman have spoken of their shared desire to turn the dealership into the best Chevrolet outlet in Ohio.

The renamed Mark Wahlberg Chevrolet has welcomed its first customers, including local Terri O’Brien, whom he spoke to via FaceTime while she was at the dealership.

O’Brien, who purchased a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox, was filmed by local news outlet WSYX ABC 6 on the video call with Wahlberg, who promised to invite her back when he next visits the showroom in person.

In a press release, Wahlberg said: ‘I am continuously looking for ways to innovate my brand and engage in businesses I am passionate about. I love cars and the chance to work with an experienced, proven dealer-operator like Jay and represent an iconic brand like Chevrolet inspired me to get involved.’

This isn’t Wahlberg’s first business venture, having already opened restaurants, a movie production company, a health and wellness business and a line of water with hip-hop mogul Sean Combs.
