Every week the Car Dealer team speak to a range of interesting guests on Car Dealer Live, and this week was no different.

On the show this week was Car Dealer columnist James Litton, the UK managing director of DS Automobiles Alain Descat, Pendragon CEO Bill Berman and Cap HPI’s head of valuations Derren Martin.

Monday – Car Dealer columnist James Litton


Litton has been commenting on the motor trade every month in Car Dealer for 10 years now, and he’s never short of an opinion. On Monday, Litton chatted about how we could expect fewer new car brands in the future and how the dealer landscape is changing.

Wednesday – DS Automobiles UK MD Alain Descat

The UK boss of PSA Group’s premium arm DS Automobiles came on the show on Wednesday. In a candid interview, Alain Descat spoke about the birth of a premium car brand, how DS is adapting to selling car digitally and how the brand will take 25 years to be a big player.

Thursday – special show – Bill Berman on Pendragon job losses

In a special show, Bill Berman came on Car Dealer Live on Thursday to discuss Pendragon’s shock news that it was cutting 1,800 jobs and closing 15 dealerships. In a frank interview, Berman spoke about how lockdown changed the business, how it was adopting internet car sales into its business and how by losing jobs and dealerships the business will be more profitable.

Friday – Cap HPI’s Derren Martin

On Friday Cap HPI’s head of valuations Derren Martin gave Car Dealer Live viewers an exclusive insight into current used car values. Martin chatted about how strong values have been since June and how they will likely taper off in September.
