GLYN Hopkin – one of the UK’s most successful automotive retail groups – has registered its 100,000th Nissan.
The company hit the milestone through both retail and fleet sales just 22 years after it began trading with a single Nissan dealership in Romford in 1993.
It now has more than 35 dealerships across London and the south-east – including 13 Nissan outlets – and employs more than 650 people.
The group’s 100,000th Nissan registration was achieved at Glyn Hopkin St Albans in Lyon Way, when Hatfield couple Andrew and Jayne Busby took delivery of a 100 per cent electric Nissan Leaf.
The dealer group presented Mr and Mrs Busby with a bouquet, a bottle of champagne and a cheque for £5,000 to celebrate the momentous occasion.
Fraser Cohen, managing director of Glyn Hopkin, who is pictured above with the Busbys, was part of the team that sold the group’s first Nissan – an aquamarine Micra LX.
He said: ‘When we opened our first Nissan dealership back in 1993 we could never have imagined we’d be stood here handing over our 100,000th Nissan a couple of decades later.
‘We’re incredibly proud of this landmark in our company’s history and of the role we’ve played in Nissan’s success in the UK. The long-established relationship between Glyn Hopkin and Nissan is a very strong one that has seen the group expand to 13 Nissan dealerships covering very important market areas for the brand.’
He added: ‘Much of the credit for this achievement has to go to the Glyn Hopkin team. Ever since we started, our ethos has been to look after the staff and they’ll look after the customers.
‘We have an incredible team, many of whom have been with the business for over 10, 15 and even 20 years, and that’s reflected in the success and growth of our group.’
David Jackson, communications director of Nissan Motor (GB) Ltd, said: ‘Glyn Hopkin was one of Nissan’s first UK dealers and has grown along with the Nissan brand to become one of our biggest and most-valued retail partners.
‘On behalf of everyone at Nissan I’d like to offer enormous congratulations to the whole team at Glyn Hopkin past and present for hitting this fantastic milestone.’
