A PREMIUM dealer franchise is planning to build a new showroom in Portsmouth.
Sytner Group subsidiary Guy Salmon has made a planning application for a Jaguar Land Rover dealership to be built at the Lakeside North Harbour business park in Cosham.
The plans detail a two-storey showroom with space for 18 cars inside, as well as offices and handover bays. There will also be a workshop at the back with 26 work bays, two MOT bays and a valeting area.
If the application succeeds, the dealership will create approximately 120 various jobs and training opportunities for local residents.
The development would take up a total of 5,432 square metres at the site, which is opposite the Village Hotel.
The planning application is currently under consideration and open for comments from the public. Portsmouth City Council is expected to announce its decision in October.
Consultants Dalton Warner Davis said: ‘The purpose of the proposed development is to provide a purpose built combined dealership facility for Jaguar Land Rover.
‘The proposed development would deliver a purpose built facility for JLR on this employment site providing valuable employment opportunities in the local area.’
Portsmouth City Council leader Donna Jones told the Portsmouth News: ‘Lakeside in Cosham is one of the best business parks in the south of England.
‘I am delighted that great brands like Jaguar Land Rover are looking to come to Cosham.’
