SIMON Bailes Peugeot is supporting a multi-medal-winning rower in her bid for Olympic success.
Beth Bryan is a member of the GB Rowing Team and a former Tees Valley Rowing Club member, and the dealership is providing her with a Peugeot 2008 Allure PureTech 82 for the next three years in the run-up to Olympic qualification and the 2020 Tokyo Games.
She trains full-time, including three sessions a day over six days a week, and travels around the country and internationally to train and compete.
Since starting rowing while at school, the 23-year-old, who is from Stockton-on-Tees, has won many medals, including bronze at the World Rowing Championships in Sarasota, Florida, in 2017.
Over the next few years, more success on the world stage and qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics are in her sights.
Bryan, who is now based in Henley-on-Thames, said: ‘My absolute dream is to qualify for the 2020 Olympics and do Team GB proud, and this would not be possible without the help of businesses like Simon Bailes.
‘I am so grateful and will be looking to give something back by helping and supporting other young people, which I know is something Simon himself is very keen on.
‘I approached Simon Bailes because I know that he has a fantastic ethos of supporting the local community, whether it is grass-roots sport, community events or charities. I felt that we could work together because it is really important to me that I use my successes to help inspire and motivate youngsters, whether it is to get involved in sport or to make the most of the opportunities that come their way.
‘Although I am now based in the south to support my training, I am a proud Teessider and I am looking forward to meeting, and hopefully helping, young people from across the area.’
Bailes, whose dealership group was established in 1979 and has branches in Stockton, Guisborough and Northallerton, said: ‘It’s very important to the business that we support young people in our community, whether they are aiming for the Olympic Games or just need a helping hand to reach and achieve their full potential.’
The chief executive added: ‘Beth is the third Olympian we have sponsored, and they all have fantastic mentalities and understand the value of hard work. This inspires others they come into contact with, and I hope with Beth we can harness this to make a real difference to young people in our communities.
‘It’s very important that local businesses back the young sporting talent within their local areas, and we wanted to support Beth, who has all the qualities needed to succeed at the highest level.
‘If we can make her road to Tokyo a little easier we are delighted to do so. Her success so far has been tremendous and we will be following her career closely and cheering her all the way as part of Team GB.’
