HERE ARE the most interesting and talked-about stories over the past five days, collated and summarised by us.

Tuesday, April 10

NISSAN has announced it is to build all-new mid-sized car at its Sunderland Pkant in 2014. Overall the car will create 3,000 new jobs at Nissan and at component factories. Read more

TOYOTA has announced prices for its Prius Plug-in. Thanks CO2 emissions of 49g/km,  the car is eligible for the £5k Government-funded grant. It means prices start at £27,895 after the grant is deducted.


THE latest addition to the Porsche Cayenne range is the GTS. It weighs in at £67,147 with a tuned 420bhp V8 and lowered, stiffened suspension, and goes on sale in July.

SKODA revealed the price tags its putting in its Citigo range. Prices kick of at £7,630 for the three door; the five-door is £350 more. Read more

Wednesday, April 11

THE man responsible for putting the 1.9-litre engine into the 205 GTI, says he’ll be pushing for 230bhp in the new 208 GTI. Read more


MERCEDES has given its classic G-Class a slight make-over. Topping the revisions list is an improved interior and a new G 63 AMG Bi-Turbo. It arrives this Autumn.

INIFNITI has also updated its premium SUV. Its FX receives cosmetic changes, new colours and wheels. Prices remain unchanged and start from £46,750.

MG has improved CO2 emissions on its MG6 range. The car now emits 174g/km and its mpg figure has risen by 1.6 to 27.7mpg. List prices have been slashed by £40.

Thursday, April 12

SKODA has reported its best March ever. At 95,200 deliveries to customers worldwide, Skoda has recorded a year-on-year growth of 12.1 per cent.

VOLVO has announced that almost all of its 2013 range of diesel-engined cars will have CO2 emissions below 120 g/km.

MERCEDES’ new ML 63 AMG is priced from £82,995. It’s powered by a 5.5-litre bi-turbo V8 delivering 525bhp – or 557 bhp with the optional AMG Performance Package (£6,165).

EMPLOYEE turnover in franchise dealerships is typically slightly less than 30 per cent, new research shows. Read more 

Friday, April 13

KIA Motor UK’s soon-to-be president and CEO Paul Phillpot tells Car Dealer the firm should not be targeting premium sectors – rather it should be focussing on being more sporty. Read more

LEXUS says its sales in the year to March are up 18.4 per cent, led by the CT 200h. The compact CT is up 68.7 per cent over the same period last year.


TO mark the debut of the DS line in China, Citroen has created the Numero 9. The company says the concept signals the styling cues of the next three DS line models: a C-segment premium sedan, an SUV and a D-segment executive saloon.

VOLVO has announced the asking price for its new V40. The premium hatchback starts at £19,745 and the D2 model emits 94 g/km of CO2.
