TrustFord hands over first of special new vans to Asda in multi-million-pound fleet deal

TrustFord has begun delivering newly fitted-out vans to Asda after securing a multi-million-pound fleet order.

The deliveries began with a handover at the supermarket chain’s Lancaster superstore by national account sales manager Nichola Hobson and group aftersales development manager Graham Wright to Asda’s senior manager for national fleets and carriers Sean Clifton and fleet operations manager Adrian Rigby, along with fleet team members from both companies.

The number of vehicles involved was unspecified, but TrustFord – the UK’s largest Ford dealer network – said it had been working with Asda’s fleet team for some time on the specification, delivery and mobile support service for the order.

Mark Wilkie, TrustFord’s fleet and CV director, said: ‘We are proud to have been able to support Sean and his team at Asda with this special order.

‘The fleet team has continued throughout lockdown to ensure key services have been able to keep functioning. With support from both sides and Ford Motor Company, we have been able to turn the fleet order around and to specification in very unusual circumstances.’

Clifton said: ‘It is wonderful to see all the collective hard work from the teams coming together. The collaborative approach to the project has been tremendous.

‘Given the backdrop of the pandemic, the teams have barely missed a beat in bringing these vehicles to our stores and I want to thank everyone involved, including our partners in TrustFord and Paneltex. The vans look great and will help us reach more customers across the UK and help feed the nation.’

TrustFord chairman and chief executive Stuart Foulds said: ‘I am delighted that we have been able to support Asda with this very important order.

‘Our fleet team delivers an outstanding service, which has national recognition for providing exceptional service levels. We take pride in working very closely with our customers to understand the nature of their business demands and needs.

‘To have secured the confidence of Sean at Asda and their fleet team is a privilege, and we look forward to a long and happy partnership.’
