A NISSAN dealership in Cardiff is helping a scout group’s fundraising auction.
The 2nd Llandaff Scouts, who meet at the Methodist/URC Christchurch in Llandaff North, need to raise £250,000 to buy their premises and Wessex Garages has given the group a selection of prizes for an auction on April 17.
Gareth Howells, general manager at Wessex Garages in Hadfield Road, said: ‘We are delighted we can help the 2nd Llandaff Scouts with their auction. We are donating a signed rugby ball from the Cardiff Blues and also two Cardiff Blues match tickets. We hope they manage to raise a lot of money at the auction to go towards purchasing their scout hall.
‘The church that owns the land is selling up and that includes the land the scout hall is on. Hundreds of children have passed through that hall, learning important life skills along the way. Scouts bring huge benefit to north Cardiff, and we are urging the people of Cardiff to support them.
‘The auction will take place during a Curry Half and Laugh event on Sunday, April 17 at Llandaff North Rugby Club from 7pm until 11pm. Tickets cost £12.50 and the event is for over-18s only.’
Hayley Hayes, from Llandaff North, whose seven-year-old daughter, Amelia, attends the Beaver Scouts, said: ‘We would like to say a huge thank-you to Wessex Garages for its rugby-related donations. We are sure they will be very popular in the auction with Cardiff Blues fans.
‘There are quite a few children in Amelia’s class that attend the Tuesday and Thursday night Beaver groups, plus a lot of the dads and uncles of these children were part of the group themselves. This is why it’s important to keep this group going in Llandaff North.’
