Inchcape Toyota centres raise nearly £1,400 for Alzheimer’s Society with Christmas activities

Time 10:52 am, January 2, 2019

TOYOTA retail centre showrooms were transformed into winter wonderlands to raise funds for charity partner Alzheimer’s Society.

The teams at Inchcape Toyota Oxford and Burton held Christmas fairs, with staff at Basingstoke running activities through December. In Oxford and Burton, businesses were invited to the showrooms to host stalls selling festive goods. Visitors took part in fundraising activities, too, including a raffle and the opportunity to personalise a bauble on a memory tree at the Basingstoke centre, pictured.

There was also a special treat for the children in Burton with the creation of a Santa’s grotto, with both Burton’s and Oxford’s activities raising more than £800 for the charity.

Simon Willis-Smith, general manager for Toyota Oxford, said: ‘It was a fantastic occasion, with the team pulling together to create a winter wonderland for our customers to enjoy. The evening was a great success, with customers and colleagues really getting into the festive spirit.’

Burton’s general manager, Penny Lofthouse, said: ‘I would like to thank everyone involved for their hard work in making these events happen and for the contributions made to Alzheimer’s Society.’

In Basingstoke, the team’s efforts raised £563. Parts supervisor Samantha Donachie said: ‘We’re grateful for the support from employees and customers here in Basingstoke and are proud to have raised such a fantastic amount.’

Alzheimer’s Society supports more than 40,000 people affected by dementia. Since the partnership began last April, Inchcape has raised £19,600 towards its £50,000 fundraising target.
