Time 2:33 pm, September 3, 2019

MARSHALL Motor Holdings has completed the purchase of Honda Reading and Newbury from Jardine Motor Group, it announced today.

The acquisition of the Berkshire showrooms, for an undisclosed sum, extends Marshall’s relationship with Honda and sees it become the maunfacturer’s second-largest franchise partner in the UK with eight locations – the others are in Harrogate, Hull, Leicester, Peterborough, Scarborough and York.

Daksh Gupta, pictured, chief executive of Marshall, said: ‘We have a long-standing relationship with Honda and have worked closely with them in consolidating the territory and securing these two retail locations in markets we know very well.

‘Both businesses have significant growth potential and will benefit from being part of an enlarged division. Finally, and most importantly, I am delighted to welcome all our new colleagues to the Marshall family.’

David Hodgetts, managing director of Honda UK, said: ‘Honda UK very much welcomes this further investment into the Honda brand by Marshall Motor Holdings. This change also comes at an exciting time for the Honda brand, with the imminent arrival of the much-acclaimed all-electric Honda e and a brand-new Honda Jazz with hybrid petrol/electric powertrain in spring 2020.’

Marshall’s businesses comprise 108 franchises covering 23 brands, operating from 86 locations across 27 counties in England. It also operates five trade parts specialists, three used car centres, five standalone body shops and a pre-delivery inspection centre.
